Shopping in Los Angeles

The image was marked in the cinema: Vivian, the character of Julia Roberts in the classic A beautiful woman, travels the Rodeo Drive full of bags and in search of luxurious models. Who wouldn't want to be able to do the same? Shopping is one of the favorite programs for tourists in LA.

Shopping in Los Angeles

Filling bags on Rodeo Drive is just for millionaires, but Los Angeles doesn't just appeal to the rich and famous. You will find excellent shopping opportunities there, with a lot of variety and good prices. The city has options ranging from popular shopping malls to haute couture stores with exclusive models. It is the chance to discover fashion in all grades and prices. If you are interested in retro style items, just visit InternetAges where you can find vintage lingerie.

The tour starts in the Fashion District. If you are attracted by the name and get there unsuspecting, you will surely be frightened. What appears to be a district full of chic and famous stores is nothing more than a gigantic popular market. And get popular in that! Colorful stalls huddle on crowded sidewalks. Everyone is looking for the best bargain. Prices are the envy of any US outlet. $ 10 jeans are a common thing there... we just can't guarantee they are original.

Those looking for a low price and don't give up quality can go to one of the California outlets. Outside the Los Angeles area, outlets attract tourists looking for offers combined with major international brands. The two best known are the Camarillo Premium Outlets (on the way to Santa Barbara) and the Citadel (on the way to Disneyland). Another excellent option is Ontario Mills, the largest outlet in California! You will go crazy with incredible discounts from stores like Tommy, GAP, Nike, Carter's, Calvin Klein, H&M, Forever 21 and so many others!

If travel time is short, it is best to look for shopping centers within the city. Don't worry about LA's star fame, as not all stores are Prada and Armani. To combine a pleasant walk with the happiness of spending a few dollars, Grove (near Beverly Hills) and Santa Monica Place (near Pier Santa Monica) are the best options. Outdoors, they combine good shops and restaurants with an atmosphere of eternal weekend. When the heat gets hot, run to the Beverly Center. The mix of stores pleases all budgets and tastes. Stay tuned! You will be able to run into a famous movie star on the escalator. In the land of stars, visit the Hollywood & Highland Center, where shops coexist with the famous Dolby Theater and giant elephant statues.

For those who like to walk the street and experience the local life, West Third Street (next to the Beverly Center) and Third Street Promenade (in Santa Monica) are charming! Both are good options to see beautiful people, have a coffee and enjoy a cooler shopping. And if you are a typical gourmet tourist, be sure to visit one of the farmer's markets, with fresh California products.

How about experiencing a little of the life of Hollywood stars? The right tour to feel famous is the Golden Triangle. The region has the highest clothing prices per cm² in LA. Between Santa Monica Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard and Cañon Drive (which form a triangle on the map) you will find all of the world's most sought-after luxury brands. In the center, with a summary of the extravagant stores, is Rode Drive. Seeing shop windows, strolling and, who knows, even spending a little, are part of the mandatory itinerary for fashion lovers. Be sure to enter Via Rodeo. Hidden among the main streets, this alley is even more glamorous. You can think of all the hype and, perhaps, never reach the astronomical figures of the clothing and jewelry tags displayed in the windows.

Have you chosen where to spend a few dollars? See the guide for more details on the best options to buy in Los Angeles.

Beverly Center

With the most varied set of stores in Los Angeles, the Beverly Center attracts all audiences. From the popular Forever 21, Victoria´s Secrets and H&M to luxury brands like Prada, Fendi, Louis Vuitton and Burberry, the mall is one of the most suitable for those looking for everything in one place. We cannot forget the two anchor stores: Bloomingdale´s and Macy´s. In addition to good brands, the Beverly Center attracts with good service and a refined atmosphere - in addition to the famous ones that circulate in the corridors, of course!

Brazilians who look for the place to shop will have good surprises, such as interpreters (not yet in Portuguese, but if necessary, you can ask for one who speaks Spanish), gifts and discount coupons. Just go to the Visitor Center, on the sixth floor, and enjoy all the treats that Beverly offers foreign visitors.

More than a shopping center, Beverly is worth the ride. You can also enjoy one of the good restaurants in the mall, in addition to the surrounding area, full of alternative cafés and boutiques.

Downtown Disney District

After a full day of excitement at Disney, there is nothing like a relaxing stroll. And you don't even have to go very far. At the doorstep of the parks, the Downtown Disney District was created exactly for those who need to get their adrenaline down and rest before heading to the hotel. Extend happiness and stay a little more in touch with the wonderful world of Disney. Access is free and the fun goes on until dawn.

Anyone who ran from one toy to the next and forgot to take a souvenir from the parks will be able to take advantage of Downtown stores to do last minute shopping. At World of Disney - and other themed stores - you'll find products from all characters for sale. So don't waste time inside the parks.

For those who want to stretch the night with a good meal, there will be plenty of options! There are almost twenty restaurants and snack bars that make hungry tourists happy after a long day of fun. Among the most disputed are the Mediterranean Catal and Uva Bar, the themed Rainforest Café and Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, the Italian Naples Ristorante and the Mexican Tortilla Jo's.

If the intention is to stay until the last minute, enjoy one of the movie theaters and nightclubs. Always with top quality repertoire, House of Blues is a Los Angeles classic and has a beautiful branch in Downtown Disney. Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - Flambeaux's Jazz Club, in addition to good food, offers beautiful shows inspired by New Orleans classics.

The options appeal to all tastes. Be sure to enjoy Disney until the end!

Grand Central Market

Since 1917, the Grand Central Public Market has resisted the growth of Los Angeles. In the center of Downtown, a region that was once the main cultural and commercial corridor in the city, it is one of the best reflections of diversity in LA. In this market you will find Mexicans having lunch in a Chinese restaurant, Thai people enjoying Hawaiian barbecue and Americans delighted with Turkish kebabs. Everything in total harmony.

There is no luxury at the Central Market. It is the ideal place for gourmets looking for authentic experiences from popular international cuisine. The space is well organized, clean and the variety is great. Prices are also pleasing. With $ 15 you will leave there happy and with a full belly. In addition to good recipes, the ingredients are also first rate. Fruits, vegetables, legumes and meats come from the best productions in California. Everything fresh, straight to the table.

Enjoy the kiosks that sell unique delicacies. The abundance of spices is an invitation to venture into other less traditional cuisines.

Hollywood & Highland Center

Hollywood and Highland is much more of a tourist destination than a shopping center. With an extravagant construction, where giant portals are adorned by elephants, it is one of the most photographed attractions in Los Angeles. In addition to the architecture, the place offers a beautiful - and very distant - view of the Hollywood sign. The walkway - where the sign can be seen - is almost mandatory, but it is by no means the best place to observe the most famous tourist spot in Los Angeles.

The set of stores, on the edge of the Walk of Fame, is very limited and the mall is small (but has the presence of good brands, such as: Sephora, MAC, Louis Vuitton, L'Occitane, Forever 21 and even the Brazilian Chilli Beans). The highlight of Hollywood and Highland, however, is not the stores, but the Dolby Theater, where the Oscar ceremony takes place.

The variety of restaurants, cafeterias and cafes is very attractive, especially for those visiting the Hollywood region. Great choice after the tour of the most famous area of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fashion District

If you're looking for a place to bargain in Los Angeles, run to the Fashion District! First, we need to warn you: despite its chic name, the Fashion District - or Garment District - is nothing more than a gigantic popular market.

On the map, it looks very attractive; a huge set of blocks, all focused exclusively on fashion. In theory it is true, but in practice it is not so. Whoever arrives there unaware will certainly be scared, not to say a shock. After all, the most common image you have of Los Angeles is the chic, elegant and unattainable (at least for the common pocket) Rodeo Drive. One thing, however, we can guarantee: the Fashion District certainly fits in your pocket!

Jeans, shoes, dresses, blouses... All for ten dollars! The value is quite common. As well as Prada, Louis Vuitton and MK bags. After all, counterfeits exist everywhere, and it would be no different in Los Angeles. So don't fall into the temptation of low prices without looking closely - and closely - at the quality of the product. Among the points of purchase, two stand out: The New Mart and California Market Center. With a mall face, both are good options.

After the initial scare, the deal is to pan among the good offers and enjoy! Who doesn't like a good fair, especially with so many unbelievable offers? Sales take place both in stalls set up on the street and in stores. The thing is kicking!

Ontario Mills Mall Outlets

The largest outlet in California! There is no other way to start talking about Ontario Mills. With over 200 stores, in a closed and air-conditioned environment, this is the perfect place for those looking to buy everything in the same place. What else? Discounts, of course! After all, we're talking about an outlet !

Have it all, in one mall! The Ontario Mills slogan is explained by the huge variety of brands. You will hardly find what you are looking for there. Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Michael Kors, True Religion, Nordstrom, H&M, Forever 21, J. Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Disney, DKNY, Abercrombie & Fitch, Polo Ralph Lauren, Hollister and Nike are just a few examples of stores that fill the corridors of the place.

To increase the chances of discounts, visit the outlet website before traveling. You can print some coupons and pay even less. For those who intend to buy a lot, the tip is to take a wheeled suitcase - or buy there - to carry all the bags. Believe me, there will be many!

How to get

The biggest drawback for anyone looking to go to Ontario Mills is the distance. It is located 75km from downtown Los Angeles (about an hour). To get there, the most practical option is the car. The outlet is at the intersection of Interstates 10 and 15, in Ontario-CA. Private shuttles, such as Take Tours, also make the trip from Los Angeles. The average cost is $ 58.

Rodeo Drive and the Golden Triangle

In the fashion world, few streets are as famous as Rodeo Drive. The reason? It contains all the major international luxury brands. Burberry, Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada are just some of the more well-known names you will see there. Some brands are so exclusive that they go unnoticed by the public less attentive to the fashion world.

Regardless of having - or not - funds on your credit card to buy something there, walking down the street is already a worthwhile walk. Believe! Viewing the windows is free! So be sure to take a walk amid the famous palm trees on Rodeo Drive. Speaking of celebrities, there is your biggest chance to see some Hollywood stars. It's not just a movie thing, like the classic A beautiful woman, starring Julia Roberts. They actually open their wallets in the stores there.

In addition to the brands located specifically on Rodeo Drive, the surrounding area also houses exclusive haute couture stores. The meeting of Santa Monica Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard and Canon Drive is known as The Golden Triangle, or Golden Triangle. The name has a reason: these blocks are home to the most expensive stores in the city.

Forget the prices in the window, because they are never exposed. If you want to enter one of the stores and live a diva experience, wear an elegant outfit and go with the face and courage. The stores are so refined that they naturally amaze anyone who is not in the spirit of a buyer. When else can you try a model worthy of an Oscar night, right?

Santa Monica Place

Just two blocks from the beach, Santa Monica Place is part of one of the best shopping areas in Los Angeles. Extension of the Third Street Promenade (they are separated only by a traffic light), Santa Monica Place attracts the public that lives the cool climate of the coast. Despite having the traditional shopping format, this shopping center excels in outdoor spaces and a wooded terrace. It is as if you are still with your feet in the sand.

The store mix is excellent, with anchors like Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom. Among the most sought after brands are Burberry, Kitson, Nike and Michael Kors. It is best to be able to come and go several blocks from Santa Monica without repeating stores. Don't forget that the beach will be just a few steps away. Go prepared to set foot in the sand.

The Grove

The name already sets the mood for the place. The Grove, or Bosque, is charming. Far beyond a simple shopping mall, the space is great for strolling outdoors. The central plaza, covered with grass, fountains, bandstands, bridges and trees, is an invitation to relax amid the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. One of the biggest attractions of the mall is the historic cable car - from 1759 -, which circulates throughout the area and takes tourists for free for a delicious walk.

The space is frequented by people of all ages and is on the list of favorites of the famous. Look through the caps and sunglasses of anyone passing by. It is not uncommon for striking Hollywood stars in the area.

In addition to the Grove being an attraction in itself, the set of stores is also great. Brands like Forever 21, Nordstorm, Michael Kors, MAC, Apple and a gigantic Abercrombie & Fitch make the happiness of those looking for some shopping. The restaurants - including a Cheesecake Factory - invite you to extend your stay even further. When you're done shopping, be sure to stop by The Original Farmer's Market.

The Original Farmers Market

Traditional throughout California, Farmer's Markets are the favorite selling point for local producers. The goods, which vary between vegetables and animals, are always fresh and come straight from the farms to the stalls and restaurants in these gastronomic havens.

Among so many options, the most traditional is the Original Farmer´s Market. Since 1934, he has delighted tourists and residents with the huge variety of products, restaurants, delicatessens and product shops that seem to have come straight from the homes of American grandparents. It is difficult to resist traditional apple pies, donuts and muffins.

The cuisine is not restricted to American cuisine, quite the opposite! There you can try delicacies and snacks of various nationalities. Koreans, Japanese, Thai, French, Spanish, Brazilians, Italians, Mexicans, Singaporeans, Turks and Greeks are very well represented there. All this diversity is the face of Los Angeles!

You don't even have to spend a lot, or waste time sitting at the tables. The good thing is to go from tent to tent experiencing a little of each thing. There are more than 100 stores. You will discover incredible flavors in all of them!

The Original Farmer's Market is next door to The Grove mall. The region guarantees one of the most pleasant tours to do in Los Angeles. After buying some culinary ingredients, hurry up to see windows (and, who knows, fill bags) in the Grove.

Third Street Promenade and Downtown Santa Monica

The location, almost on the edge of Santa Monica beach, already sets the mood for the Third Street Promenade. The region, transformed into an open-air mall, is an invitation to an unpretentious walk, whether for those looking to buy or just to watch fashion pass. All reserved for pedestrians, it is filled with street artists who make the avenue an even more relaxed environment. It is an excellent walk before or after going to the beach.

The most famous of the streets in the Downtown Santa Monica area is Third Street, but the shopping area also extends between Ocean Avenue and Seventh Street. In addition to the shops, some theaters, cinemas, bars and many restaurants are attractive to extend the tour until night. Specialties travel the world: Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Greek, British, Spanish, not to mention the Los Angeles classics, such as the Mexican and the American. Cuisine for all tastes and flavors!

Shopping is also not disappointing and stores are of excellent quality: Apple Store, GAP, Urban Outfitters, Guess and H&M are just a few examples of good shopping opportunities. Across the street, the Santa Monica mall complements the Third Street Promenade and makes the area one of the best for shopping in Los Angeles. It is difficult to resist the temptation of the beach.

Universal CityWalk

Anyone who thinks the fun ends when the Universal Studios doors close is wrong. It is at this very moment that the Citywalk, Universal's entertainment street, is taken by visitors. While the park ends its activities, on this street the fun has just begun!

The options are many for those who are willing to prolong the night, starting with the nineteen movie theaters - among them seven IMAX! In addition to being fun, you still stay in the cinematic theme proposed by Universal Studios.

After the rush between one toy and another, it's time to pay more attention to the windows. The Citywalk offers good stores, including Abercombie & Fitch, Fossil and Guess. The best, however, is to take advantage of the thematic options. The films and drawings seen inside the park are printed on T-shirts, mugs, caps and all kinds of souvenirs. More elaborate souvenirs, such as action figures, are a hit with moviegoers who visit specialty stores.

After shopping, it's time to take advantage of the abundant food options. Universal Citywalk concentrates some of the gastronomic classics of Los Angeles, such as: Johnny Rockets, Tommy's and Pink's. In addition to snack bars, the space is surrounded by good restaurants. It's time to sit back and relax.

If there is still energy left, how about enjoying the end of the night over there? Live performances take place, free of charge, on the central stage of the Citywalk. In addition to the shows, nightclubs attract a large audience, regardless of the park. Enjoy the ride, even if you haven't spent the day at Universal Studios.
